EXPERIENCIAS DE DIETA TERAPÉUTICA A BASE DE PLANTAS MEDICINALES AMAZÓNICAS EN EL CENTRO TAKIWASI EN PERÚ

“La dieta”, también conocida como “dieta amazónica”, es un elemento esencial de la medicina tradicional amazónica (MTA) (Fotiou, 2019; Giove, 2002; Jauregui et al., 2011; Politi, 2018). Aunque algunos autores relevantes han tratado la dieta como tema de investigación (Luna 1986; Berlowitz, et al., 2018; Fotiou, 2019; Giove, 2002; Sanz- Biset & Cañigueral, 2011), son aún escasas las publicaciones al respecto. El dispositivo de la dieta está compuesto por una serie de estrictas normas, que implican el aislamiento, pautas rigurosas de alimentación y cuidados de la actividad sexual. No se puede tomar alcohol ni tener relaciones sexuales (incluida la masturbación), además de numerosas restricciones alimenticias entre las que se encuentran no comer picante, frituras, sal o azúcar (Sanz-Biset et al., 2009). Durante el proceso de aislamiento en la selva, se toman plantas medicinales denominadas “plantas maestras” o “doctores” (Politi et al., 2019). Estas plantas juegan un papel principal en el proceso de curación (Jerningan, 2011; Horák, 2013). Después de este primer tiempo en el que la persona está aislada, comienza el periodo de “post-dieta”, que habitualmente tiene la duración de un mes. De igual manera, está caracterizado por numerosas e importantes restricciones en diferentes áreas de la vida cotidiana de la persona (Torres, 2016).
