Plantas sagradas de América del Norte

En este capítulo se describen las plantas utilizadas para fines espirituales y ceremoniales por pueblos indígenas de Norteamérica. La flora que se describe se encuentra localizada en América del Norte continental, al norte del Río Grande. Este capítulo está dividido en dos partes. La primera parte, la introducción, contiene una amplia información acerca de las ceremonias tradicionales (limpieza con "humo", círculos de sanación, baño de "sudor" y la ceremonia de la "pipa"); posteriormente se describen las características de cuatro plantas sagradas por las Primeras Naciones (hierba dulce, tabaco, cedro, salvia). Cabe resaltar que durante el desarrollo de esta sección, se hace mención, de una manera especial, a dos plantas importantes: gobernadora y peyote, debido a la diversidad de usos que posee, tanto a nivel espiritual como medicinal.
