The paper deals with Russia's impact on conflicts in Western Balkans and East-Central Europe from a comparative perspective. The author presents an analytical framework for comparing Russian interference and conceptualizes regional conflict. Selected dimensions (including historical determinants and competition with interests of other powers) and forms of activities in both regions are then analyzed (including specifics of certain countries). Comparison of both regions helps to understand the comprehensive character of Russian geopolitical area-focused influential operations.
