The proceedings “New Approaches in Fisheries Management of Trout Waters” present a collection of scientific studies addressing current challenges and trends in the conservation, management, and sustainable use of trout waters in the Czech Republic. The contributions cover a wide range of topics, from biological, ecological, and geomorphological aspects to fish health issues, the impacts of climate change, and practical experiences from fisheries management. The publication focuses mainly on the effects of climate change on brow trout and grayling populations, proposes new approaches to categorizing trout fishing grounds according to their ecological potential, and discusses strategies for optimizing fisheries management under changing environmental conditions. Further studies examine the risks of current management practices, the influence of fish-eating predators, the role of stream geomorphology, and habitat preferences of brown trout. Additional papers address the issue of proliferative kidney disease (PKD), modern fish tagging techniques, efficient incubation and rearing of juvenile stages, innovative monitoring methods for trout waters, and the evaluation of long-term population trends based on fisheries statistics. The proceedings provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge in trout ecology, biology, and management. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of scientific findings, interdisciplinary cooperation, and the development of effective tools for adapting fisheries management to ongoing climate and environmental change.
