The methodology presents to the professional and lay public a summary of findings and recommendations on the possibilities of using sorghum as an alternative crop for the production of preserved feed (silage) and its inclusion in the feed ration of dairy cows with the aim of maintaining or improving the current level of productivity. The methodology is intended to provide information on the agrotechnics of growing sorghum, on the possibilities of single-cut and double-cut use from the point of view of aboveground biomass production and nutrient content in selected sorghum varieties. Furthermore, the methodology provides instructions on the specific practical inclusion of sorghum in the crop rotation for the production of bulk feed for dairy cows, silage production and inclusion in the feed ration of dairy cows in order to maintain the current level of herd productivity and the economics of milk production.
