The publication Intergenerational Learning in Practice: Principles, Methods, and Inspiration for Programme Development offers a theoretically grounded yet practically oriented framework for understanding, planning, implementing, and evaluating intergenerational programmes. It is based on the assumption that intergenerational learning does not arise automatically from the mere coming together of people of different ages, but rather results from carefully designed conditions that foster dialogue, reciprocity, cooperation, and shared reflection. The text systematically distinguishes between intergenerational encounters, activities, programmes, and learning, and explains the circumstances under which generational diversity can become a source of learning, understanding, and social cohesion. The publication presents a typology of intergenerational programmes, summarises their individual, relational, and community benefits, and highlights the factors that influence their successful implementation. An important part of the publication is formed by examples of good practice from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, illustrating different approaches to the implementation of intergenerational programmes in the fields of education, community work, and social services. The publication is intended for professionals in the fields of education, social work, and community development, as well as other stakeholders who wish to design and develop intergenerational programmes as meaningful environments that support learning and cooperation between generations.
Keywords: Intergenerational learning, intergenerational programmes, intergenerational relationships; examples of good practice, facilitation, evaluation, community development
