SELECTED ASPECTS OF THE VARIABILITY OF LACTOFERRIN AND LYSOSYME IN MILK

The bioactive lactoproteins in milk, lactoferrin (LF) and lysozyme (LYS), offer possibilities for monitoring mammary gland health in routine analyses in practice. The correlations of LF and LYS results between the reference HPLC and the indirect MIR-FT method were: 0.79 and 0.51 (p < 0.001). For LF in goat colostrum it was 0.91 (p < 0.001). The two higher values are analytically usable. The correlations of LF to udder health indicators demonstrated the possibility of practical interpretation in monitoring of mammary gland health.
